Please help power lost on my 97 mercury sable

l have 97 mecury sable , Maybe you can help me out before l go to the shop an they bust my pockets..

l have experienced sudden loss of power in my car.l push the accelerator to the floor , there is no pick up at all .. It makes its way up, but there is imediate power at all ! ! !If somebody will be coming along the car will not go fast enough to get out of the way..It idles fine, the exhaust pipe the one that has that nettin shield around it is cracked l am getting that replace., and it does not overheat, no back firing ..

l havent look at the fuel filter..Can you give me any ideas?? Louie
The check engine light is on l am going to auto zone and see what they say an l post it on here
i know the exhust system / cat is shot.. l just order one.. going to just replace the fuel / an cat at the same time an see what happens .. Going to go to autzone and hook it up an see what the check engine light is saying
l just came back from auto zone.. these people are amazing cool peoples

1. PO122 Tps
2. Po 344 cam shaft position sensor
3. P11121 MAF sensor ..
Should l feel sick to my stomach .. or Somebody please say its going to be ok lol..

Could be fuel filter/fuel lines.

Or you may need a tuneup?

If this happened somewhat gradually, like over the course of a few days, I'd say it sounds like ur catalytic converter is clogging.

The TPS (throttle position sensor) & MAF sensor should be relatively easy to replace yourself. l do not know about the cam sensor.

But those things may all be out of bounds because of u having to mash the gas so hard to try to get up hills. Replace the cat first & foremost, see if the codes change after a couple of days' driving.
