l went to test drive a 99 cougar and there was some black stuff coming out of the exhaust.The owner of the car said that the car was sitting for about 2 weeks and not being driven.So l was thinking maybe it was some condensation build up because thats wht happens when cars sit.Or do you think its something worse like oil being burnt??He is only asking $2300 and it has 93k miles.l was thinking about getting it but this is worrying me.Obviously l dont expect a perfect car for $2300 but l dont want the engine blowing on me a month after l buy it.Does anyone have any insight on the topic or on mercurys in general??Thanks in advance

Black smoke coming out of an exhaust is called ''blow by'' and it is 99% of the time burnt oil. Sorry.
