Most are driven by older drivers, most are maintained right, and driven right. They are cars that no young people want, yet they are one of the best.
l have a 99, took a straight highway trip and got 33mpg.

since 92 they mostly the same car, in 98 the changed the front & rear styling & 03 newer frame desgin.

the 4.6L v8 is a long lasting engine. I've seen used ones with well over 200k on the clock, & ppl with the Merc & Crown Vic tell me they just ''do not die'' :)

my dad had a 95 merc (looks justl like a 97) & it lasted forever seemed like.then they got an 03. things drive & ride like a town car. decent mileage about 20 in town 25-27 hwy.

for a good dependable vehicle can not go wrong IMO.

EDIT: website whre lots of younger guys driving panthers. http://grandmarq.net has good info on these cars

good luck!!

The Mercury Grand Marquis is built in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada on the same platform, with the same engine as the Ford Crown Victoria and more importantly the Lincoln Town Car. The components of these cars stand up to police and livery use - most American and Canadian police cars are Crown Victorias and most airport limousines are Lincoln Town Cars. So, they're built like tanks and are about the same size. The only drawback to them is the rising price of fuel.
