Any after 1997, yes.

They sold solely on their looks. They were not fast, not reliable, & not especially good in any way other than appearance.

That is pretty much the definition of a ''girl car.'' They bought it because it was cute.

Men r more likely to buy based on other factors. Appearance may enter into it, but wo not win out without something else going for it.

1997 & earlier Cougars r not. Those were (with the V8) good cars in many respects.

Yea, they are kind of old unreliable cars.

Imo a cougar is not a girls car. l have 3 cougars a 99 with full svt swap cai full exhaust including headers and soon to be a 60 trim turbo. Fast reliable and good on gas. Next is a 95 with the 4.6 with a 331 stroker topped with an m90 and a 67 with full aluminum 429. Overall l would say not a chick car. Good tuner for 99-02

Questions based on matching gender stereotypes with a certain vehicle r absurd. If u like the car, buy it & do not pay any attention to what others say. l think u might be confusing the more recent slang term referring to an somewhat older, single woman who is not afraid to be assertive with younger men with the car model, which has been around for a lot longer than that.

That said, l think the original Mercury Cougar of the late 1960s was a pretty cool car, based on the Mustang but with somewhat more refined trim/appearance. The sequential turn signal indicators were cool (though they r a pain mechanically to repair or keep up).
