l am thinking of getting one. Which engine is more reliable? should l get a 2- or 4-door? Which model should l look for (GS, LS, etc)? Are there any serious problems with these cars? Which options should l look for/avoid? How much should l pay? Any input is appreciated, as long as it is not people telling me to get a newer car. l have my mind set on this car, l just wanna know what kind to look for. Thanks.

79 to 82 were crap, 83 had ECC II l computer system which was not too hot.

Like the above poster, l would look for post-'86 model years. Those r the years Ford switched to SEF l on the 5.0L (302) V8 engines. Stay away from the 5.8L (351W) V8 equipped models. They were carbureted even up to as late as 1991 model years. The only minor issues with these engines were the PCV screens would clog up, & the plastic TV grommets would break, causing delayed upshifts. If u can find one that has had all the gaskets replaced, & the transmission rebuilt with updated later model year parts, it would be a good find. Hope this helps.
