Its a 1997 and it has less than 90,000 miles. Asking price was $1500 but they are letting me get it for $1000. Do you know if they have good MPG. Should l purchase this car or run far far away. Im also looking into a 1999 Buick Century and that has 160 000 miles. People are saying going with the one with the less miles. But does that really matter? Im confused on which one l should go with. Because the Buick will need two windows fixed and the windsheild replaced.But the sable has nothing wrong with it. l just want the one that is going to have the better MPG. But can you help me.

l had a Mercury Sable and it ran really good. It was a 1995 though. Got really good gas mileage too. l paid a 3,200.00 for mine. It had low mileage. It would be a really good car and run for a long time. If you have any doubts have a mechanic that you trust look at it. They could tell you if any thing might be wrong.

l sold a 98 mercury sable to my relatives a couple of years ago and they have it up to 190,000 miles and have had only to replace starter. it is still a nice car. the buick century is absolute junk.

a friend of mine had an 89 sable that still run up until 2000 or 2001. the engine and transmission was original. only the body had gone. he had over 200 k on the motor and tranny

With regard to to the MPG, a 6 cyl Sable & a 6 cyl Century r going to be very close in MPG. If u have to spend money to fix the Buick, it may take a lot of gas savings (assuming the Buick gets better MPG) to pay for the repairs, if it even ever pays off.

And since the Buick has almost double the miles of the Sable, what other repairs r lurking around the corner for the Buick? Transmission? Ball Joints? Tie Rod Ends? Rack & Pinion?

70,000 miles is a big difference. $1000 seems very fair for the Sable.

Sable up, it is a no brainer here. The sable should get highways of mid 20 is per gallon. The only issues I've heard of with the mercury were some trans issues but not extreme consistency. they are roomy and comfortable for passengers the Buick was too but they had ecm issues so go with the mileage benefit.
