2005 grand marquis, headlights on 3 minutes, off 3minutes. this in manual position.

The circuit breaker is tripping.
You could have a shorted headlamp switch, or the connector behind it, a bad relay, or a short in the wiring to the headlamps themselves.

If you have a key pad on the driver is door, one of the buttons is shorting out, change the keypad

l really do not quite understand what u r asking. My 2002 Grand Marguis has an optional dial switch on the dash that can set the headlights on automatic or u can turn them on as normal by turning the switch to park lights & headlights. If l turn the dial to the left the lights come on automatically when l start the car but go off if the sun is out, they stay on if it is dark or in a tunnel & when l activate the key remote to unlock the door. If this is happening when u drive & come on in the day the lights r off unless u r in a shaded area u have the auto dial switch on.

From what l am thinking about the car u have the headlight dial set to the left & the lights will come off an on during the day depending on conditions. They r automatically on in the dark & will stay on once u shut the car off for about 3 Min is if u have the dial set that far over. If u do not want the auto headlight feature turn the dial straight up but no headlight unless u manually turn them on.
