We will need more information:
Manual Transmission 5spd
-Some shift towers in 99+ cougars would loosen over time.
--solution pull up leather shift boot and inspect/tighten if needed
-Shift linkage could loosen
--solution requires lifting car to check linkage under car.
Automatic
-Some could get stuck in park,
Other problems could be clutch wear(5spd)
