I am worried about the Mercury Grand Marquis. I am only 19, and l know most people say its a grandpa is car, but l LOVE it is full size, v8 regular gas engine, and a SUPER deep trunk. And leather seats, snd its HUGE comfort for all people. l hope they keep making them. l am worried that Ford may be killing the Grand Marquis for civilian use. The ford crown victoria started strictly fleet-only sales for 2008, so 2007 was it for that.

It would make me feel terrible to find out that The Ford Motor Company would stop making the Mercury Grand Marquis.

The reason why i'm worried is that for 2009, they dropped the GS trim level, leaving only the LS trim level. l fear this could be the end. l planned on buying a silver 2004 or 2005 Grand Marquis at some point next year. l do not wanna buy a car that they do not make anymore, though. l hope ford can keep the mercury grand marquis flame burning.
Well, it is not my decision. It is all up to Ford is decision. l can not predict this. l have done research and l have found no announcements on when they will stop retail sales of the Grand Marquis.

retail means that everyday typical citizens can buy one for their own. (Like for example, the other Mercurys, the Sable and the Milan are retail).

Fleet-only means ONLY for businesses or other things business-related.

l read in motor trend magazine that 2009 will be the last year for the Ford Ranger pickup truck. But the Mercury grand marquis had no announcement listed if they will discontinue making them.

So, in summary, l currently do expect to see a 2010 Grand Marquis. The '09s are out right now, so you could go buy a 2009 if you wanted to right now.

l just think that this car just started edging to a gradually slow death, by having it only down to 1 trim level, the LS.

Sorry. l just love this big, comfy, spacey, safe, roomy car. l can trust this on LONG trips, can not l ?
When it comes time to buy my Grand Marquis. l want a 2004 silver LS with leather seats, and top-notch like new shape with low mileage.

l plan on taking it on a rip over 400 miles to Pittsburgh PA, to see my favorite NHL team, the Pittsburgh Penguins play a regular season game.

Is the 2004 (gonna be 5 years old this coming year) Grand Marquis reliable and strong enough to take on a long journey like this? l say yes.

most likely, if there is not enough demand to pay the workers, bill, and make a profit, they have the stock holders to answer. so there will be a few model lines abroad dropped this coming year.

Hope not, though the Grand Marquis is really a mid-size car because of the size of the models in the 70's.
Cars that pull on the front wheels are costly, and no one wants to work on them

l have a 2002 Grand Marquis & it is one awesome car & l am very sad to see a real American car lost. The Crown Vic & Grand Marquis platform has really been around since 1932 when Ford introduced the first V8 flathead. The actual name of the platform was the Victoria body which is used for all full sized Fords. My 1962 Galaxie is referred to as the Victoria body.

My 2002 Marquis has 78,000 & only had regular oil changes & runs & looks like brand new. If u take car of the 2004 it will last a long time & do not worry about parts there r so many on the road parts r plentiful. l own 3 old Galaxies 1960,62 & 64 which l love to drive because l do not look like everyone else on the road.

My 2002 Marquis has center console, floor shift, bucket seats just like the Marauder & was only built for a few months in 2002 before the 2003 Marauder. It also has dual exhaust & load leveler suspension. Very underrated over looked car & a blast to drive.

Yes they r great cars. My parents have had 3 Grand Marquis ('79 brand new, '92 brand new, & a '94 used). They bought a '04 Sable that they HATE very much. They r hoping to replace it with a new Grand Marquis before they quit making them. They thought they would save some gas money, but the Sable only gets about 2 MPG better than the V8 powered Grand Marquis. A Sable does not ride as nice as the Grand Marquis, & it has no room.

You can not beat the safety. My mother was in a accident with the '92 & walked away without a scratch on her. They fixed it up & bought the '94 while the '92 was in the autobody shop. They gave the '92 to my sister. She was in a head on collision about 2 years ago that destroyed the car, but she was able to walk away.
The Panther platform has served it is purpose well for Ford Motor Company. It is, however, very outdated in today is market. l have seen on some web sites that say 2011 will be the last model year for the Grand Marquis. It will be a gigantic mistake!
What l liked was the rear-wheel drive, the V8, room to move, & a big trunk.
They need to keep the Grand Marquis, but kill the Panther platform. They could put an all new 2012 Grand Marquis on the rear-wheel drive Australian Ford Falcon platform. They need to stay away from the front-wheel drive, but a rear-wheeled AWD system would be a nice option for snowy climates. They can use a range of engine choices like the Chrysler 300 does, but the car needs to be bigger than the 300. The 3.5 V6 that they use in the Ford Flex could be used as a base model engine, they could have the 4.6 V8 as a mid-range model, the 5.4 V8 as a ''limited'' trim level option, & the new 6.2 Hurricane V8 (coming out soon) as a high performance Marauder model. They could even build a hybrid version.
l sure hope Ford does not kill it off. They just need to redesign the car. It is after all the best selling Mercury. It would be foolish to stop production.
They r very reliable cars. You should have no problem finding a used one with very low mileage. Many older people own them & they take better care of their cars than the younger generations. Good luck in ur search!
