l have a 1995 mercury grand marquis ''181K'' and l got my oil changed on june 7 2007 but my oil level is low and my engine will knock for about 30 secs when l crank it up soundslike a f 150. any

add oil if it is low.

You need to top off the oil to maintain the proper oil level between oil changes. It is probably ur valve seals that need replacement due to age. The cost of the parts involved r very inexpensive, but the cost of labour is somewhat pricey depending on where u r located, & what the going labour rates r in ur area. l was going through at least 2 litres of oil between oil changes on my 1995 Crown Victoria (same as ur Grand Marquis) until l changed the valve seals. Now, l will be lucky if it consumes even 1/2 a litre between oil changes, & l have 360,000 kilometers on it without ever having the engine touched. Hope this helps.

When you get your oil changed at a station where they drag a hose out and pump oil out into your car and has a Gage on it to measure the oil they are never right they are never calibrated, So check your oil after getting it changed. hope this helps.
