First, the reason the fuel economy is not posted for a Hummer H2 is likely because it is a 3/4 ton chassis, so as far as l know the EPA does not compile mileage for such vehicles.

On the other hand, the chassis is (in truth) virtually identicle to a Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon or Cadillac Escalade. The catch is that the H2 uses the 6.0L engine, so u can not really rely on the Tahoe or Yukon numbers. However, u can probably get a good idea from the Escalade numbers. l would subtract perhaps 1mpg for the heavier duty running gear on the H2, but for the most part this is right.

Using the 2007 numbers (old EPA method), the Escalade is rated at 13 city, 20 highway. Rarely would 20mpg highway be possible in this vehicle, & for 2008 the EPA has completely revamped the rating system for mileage, so the new ''rating'' for mileage for the Escalade is 12 city, 18 highway.

Working from that, l would guess ou would get roughtly 11 city & 17 highway in a Hummer H2, with a combined average around 13-14mpg.

Despite some ignorant beliefs, the Hummer is really not the devil the environmentalists try to make it out to be. It is a regular SUV with slightly heavier running gear. Nothing more. In fact, there is more passenger & cargo space inside a Tahoe or Expedition, as both of those vehicles r longer than the Hummer H2.

If gas mileage is a concern, consider waiting for the 5.3L V8 equipped Hummer H3 in 2008.

That is easy to answer. There is no fuel economy on any Hummer. People buy them for ego reasons. Gotta be bigger and badder than the other guys auto.
