I am looking for a cute SUV and one that is decent in price.. l already own an escape which l love but l want something new.. the mercury mariner looked efficent i'm just wondering if anyone knows how it is on gas?

Some of them are hybrids, which would be good on gas. If you are looking for something efficient that is NOT a hybrid, then try looking at the smaller ones like the Honda Pilot and similar.

If you look on Auto is they list gas millage

l own an Escape (Mariner Counterpart) with a V6 engine, and l get 25 mpg. My sister has the Mariner, also with the V6 engine, and she is getting 23 mpg.

Of course, if you get the four cylander, the mileage will be higher.

If you do a lot of stop and go driving, l would recommend looking at the hybrid. If you do mostly freeway driving, l would say skip the hybrid, since it would not be worth it.

try to get a diesel engine. they use the least gasoline.,

If u already own an Escape, u know the answer since they're the same vehicle under the skin. Hybrid is best, V6 worst, four somewhere in between, & will get better mileage without AWD option no matter which powertrain u choose.

Consider CRV & RAV4 also, they're good on gas too.

As for the person who said buy a diesel because they use less gas - they do not use any. They use diesel fuel - but there is no diesel engine in these vehicles.
