Technically Ford makes mercury. So technically Ford makes the grand marquis

Look where the engine and transmission meet. It will have a wire coming from the hot lead(+) on the battery to the top of it. You can follow that if all else fails. It looks like two cylinders connected the larger of the two on the bottom.

Follow the big wire off the battery. The other end of it is the starter. It bolts to the engine so the gear will engage the teeth in the flywheel.

jack the car up,PLEASE use jack stands for safety, get a creeper,........roll under the car to the rear of the passenger side front tire,........go in head first. The starter will be right there. lower passenger side where motor and trans. bolt together. Thank You, Rob in PA.

The starter on ur Grand Marquis is located on the lower right/rear corner of the engine. It is also very difficult to access & remove & replace for the inexperienced. There r THREE 10mm bolts securing the starter to the transmission bellhousing. There r two wires leading to the starter, One is the main battery positive cable secured to the starter with a 13mm nut. The other is a ''spade'' type connector. If u r getting 12 volts to the ''spade'' terminal when the key is in the START position, but the starter fails to crank the engine, the starter needs to be replaced. The two lower bolts r reasonably easy to access. But the third bolt on the top will require the use of a flexible head type ratcheting wrench to access. Hope this helps.
