the shift lever is stuck in park no matter what so l think it might be the neutral safety switch, so l need a diagram or exploded view of the center console for a 93 merc sable ls so l can take it apart to check it.

The shifter will not come out of park unless u have ur foot on the brake as a safety feature. If u do, & it doesn't, it means u have no brake lights, since it gets the signal from that circuit to release the park position. Change the fuse & it will work again, u do not need to take anything apart. 99% of the time it is the fuse, the other 1% is a bad brake light switch. In that case u can turn on emergency flashers to get it out of park, & then (carefully since u have no brake lights) drive it in to get the switch replaced.
