you only have 26k miles that really isnt a lot at all! if u have gone into the rotors it probably means ur brakes wore down so much they ground into the rotors- that happens. u need to take better care of ur brakes! Have u taken it to mechanic yet? they will probably put on new rotors & new brake pads. what kind of driving do u do? if u r driving a lot of canyons or rough roads u will wear out ur brakes much faster. on the explorer amd mountainer the front disc can be resurfaced or machined if they r within specs the rear in most cases needs to be replaced because the rear rotors r very thin 12 mm & ninimum thickness is 10 mm . vehicle is four years old it is very possible the rotors r shot have ur mechanic measure the thickness to know if they r still good, in some cases the wear sensor breaks off so ypu cannot hear any squealing on the brakes ,when this happens the brake wear into the rotor ,destroying then.
