Well l have never driven a Mercury Milan but l do own a 1994 Toyota Camry and let me tell you that car is my baby. Its so reliable. l also know 4 other people with Toyota Camrys who say the same thing. Toyota alone is a very good make. The only thing that l have had to replace is the air conditioning, but thats it.no engine trouble..nothing..If you want a good quality car go with Toyota..It wont let you down. promise!

This is mostly an issue of preference. Go to the dealers and test drive each and see what you like. In general, the American cars are better engineered (more rugged), but the Imports are more reliable if cared for properly (babied and treated gently). l personally like the milan but the camry may have better resale value.

People say the Camry is, but Toyota was hit hard when CR (Consumer Reports) did not recommend the V6 Camry for the reliability of the engine. l still think you should take the Camry just for it is resale. If you want an I4, get the Camry.

l do not know much about Mercury, l do not think they're even in the same league as Chevys anymore (LOL).

As for Toyota, if used u may get lucky with it. But recently Consumer Reports has REMOVED Toyota Camrys (as well as Tundras) from their Best Buy list, because their reliability & performance has tanked; so I'd seriously reconsider any new Toyota (if the Camrys & Tundras have slid, chances r their other models have as well). Oh yeah, & Toyota Camry has 53% more recalls than the Chevy Malibu; actually, our GM Trainer at work told us that Toyota OVERALL has over 50% more recalls than Chevy OVERALL.

Surprise! The latest Consumer Reports gives higher ratings to the Milan than the Camry. Some Camry models have had ''issues'' recently.

Consumer Reports found the V-6 Toyota Camry which was also redesigned in 2007 has problems with its new 6-speed automatic transmission.

From CR: “Because of transmission problems, we r no longer recommending the V-6 version of the Camry. However the four-cylinder & the hybrid version still have above average reliability so we still recommend those models.”

Looks like Milan has the edge.

Toyota sells more cars, so there is the reason for more recalls and more actual defect numbers. Besides Chevy is made in Mexico, they are still trying to get the assembly line going. Toyota is doing what American companies did for years-theyre coasting on their name. Their cars r going down in quality & reliability while Ford & others r going up.

The Milan is nothing more than a semi-luxury version of the Fusion which was the more luxurious less sporty version of the Mazda6. The 6 is an exceptional car, the refinements put in by Ford make it even better (unless youre wanting something sporty). The Fusion is consistently getting top rankings while the Camry is proving to be a bit of an embarrassment for Toyota that was put out too soon to try to fix a previous mistake (the previous Camry which was only a rehash of the one before that that hadnt really been improved in almost 10 years).

Mercury Milan, since it wipe out the Camry in quality. Ford and GM are continuing to raise in quality, while Toyota is starting to lower. Soon, the poeple that say ''Get and Toyota or Honda'' without even researching the competition will say ''Anything American because we actually have pride in our country!''
