l own the car mentioned about and it is about 1,500 miles away from 60,000 miles and l just wanted some advice on what to check as fall kicks in. I've already had an oil change 2 weeks ago and Im having a solenoid replaced for other reasons.

Get the cooling system checked out and have it pressure tested, this will tell you if the heater core is ok,these are very expensive to replace book time is about 14hrs.

unless you just want to spend a butt load of money there really is not anything that can be pin pointed. But if you are bored with lots of money just take it to your local garage or the dealer and they will find lots of things.

You could go with new plugs & plug wires. Air filter change. Check the Coolant protection level. Check the brake fluid.
Look at ur serpentine belt, change if it looks rough. Tires r another thing heading into the fall. Change the transmission fluid & filter adding a bottle of Lucus transmission additive, u can also change the power steering filter & drain the fluid, they make Lucus for PS systems also. The latter of the two seems drastic, but it is something that most people do not even do at all. And it is getting about the time in ur cars life to be done.

When u get to 90,000 l would change the water pump guts, if u still have her. My wife has a 96 Sable, yours is like hers. The water pump just comes apart & on the inside is a propeller. Her propeller just busted into 3 pieces for no reason at all one day. Left her stranded. The water pump guts only costs $60. Small price to pay when a roll back costs that much. l rebuilt the whole engine not knowing what had happened to begin with & it had water dripping out the exhaust. Later to find out l did not have any water pumping, l discovered the propellor busted.
