You can look in the Mountaineer in a few places for the original code which u will need to program the keypad. There will be a white sticker with a five-digit code in one of these places: inside the tailgate either at the latch area or on one of the side areas; inside the rear jack storage area on the body panel when u take it off or near the jack itself; or under the drivers' side dash area near the steering column. You should be able to use this code to unlock the driver is side door (enter the code & it will unlock), then press 3-4 at the same time to unlock the other doors. If u do not find the code in any of these places, then go to ur Lincoln-Mercury or Ford dealer & they will be able to give it to u by using the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), & they should not charge u for it. They can explain the programming from there.

First off, almost all of what #1 said is wrong for ur year vehicle. The module is located behind the right side quarter panel inside trim (which is kinda tough to remove,so u can access the number) or u can take it to a dealer, & they can access the number with a diagnostic computer only. Some dealers charge for this service, some don't, so u might call & ask first, or remove the panel to get the number off the module. If interested, u can email me & l can send u info on how to remove the panel to access. Good Luck

You will need the original factory programmed keyless entry keypad code to program ur own code. To locate the original keypad code, open the right/rear door. Pull the on-body rubber weatherstrip out, around the rear side of the door closure. Fold the right/rear seatback down into the locked position to facilitate access to the right/rear seat belt anchor. Carefully pry the upper plastic panel that houses the height adjuster & seat belt anchor off the body taking care not to damage the panel. Now pry the lower panel outward just far enough to enable access to the Vehicle Security Module, where u will see three electrical connectors plugged into it, coloured green, grey, & blue. On the module will be a series of digits on a label similar to 5L2T-15K602-EA. Beside those digits r five numbers. Those five numbers r the keyless entry keypad code. Once the original keypad code has been obtained, u will need to enter it, press the 1/2 button within 5 seconds to activate the programming mode. Holding the 1/2 button for more than 2 seconds after activation will erase the the code u programmed. The existing code will not need to be erased to program a new code. Within 5 seconds, enter the new 5-digit keypad code. The door locks will lock & unlock to confirm the new code is programmed. Hope this helps.
