l have had 4 different mechanics look for what is wrong and find what they think is the problem, then fix it for 300 or so dollars, only to have the same thing happen over and over. l even took it to the dealer last time and spent 800 dollars for a few things that ''were likely causing it'' l know as soon as the temp drops it is gonna be the same story. As soon as l turn the ignition, l have tofloor it, then rev it gently for 5 to 10 minutes keeping the rpm thing on 2 or 3 until it getswarm enough to stay running that way, not on its own.l have to stay in the car and baby sit in the disgusting indiana winter why are the mechanics so stupid that they can not fix it, and could someone please tell me what needs done so l can have the right thing fixed for the last time.

My GUESS is that ur oil is too thick.the engine has to fight the viscosity to stay started. The fact that u CAN get it to run after warming up supports this.

You can use a lighter weight oil, if the model will support it, or u can use an oil heater. This is a thing that u plug into an AC outlet (outside of house or garage or what have you) that then goes into ur dispstick tube ( l think). You will notice if u drive in ND or Minnesota that LOTS of cars have a plug sticking out of their grill.this is their oil heater.

If u have a garage & r able to heat it, that is another possibility.

As l said, this is a guess.these heater things r cheap compared to repairs so if you're desperate u can give it a shot.

You did not say what things they have replaced but from a logical stand point the computer gets info from a few sources like sensors & use that to determine air/gas mixture for cold starts. The logic is a sensor or the computer. Have those things been changed? only other possibility is the mechanical part that actually opens & closes the air coming in to the intake. so l would say the intake needs to be changed & all the sensors & the computer if u still have the problem, well by now u could have had the motor & all changed out.

If it is a 4.0L, its the upper intake gasket, or the processor neess to be re-calibrated.

Need much more info, what has been replaced, engine size, transmission, 2wd or 4wd, and is 40* F the real issue and not moisture in the air/damp outside. Ask again with that and l will give my best opinion.
