yuo put it in the high pressure side of the unit''top'' side.Just look for the valve it will have a silver cap on it.

You want to charge the air conditioning system from the suction side of the compressor(the low pressure side). Identification of the correct cap depends on whether your system uses R12 or R134a refrigerants, which are not compatible.

It is best to have a professional do the replacing of the 134a freon because there will still be air in the system that needs to be flushed out . l used to do my own air conditioner by adding on the cold side or low pressure side of the unit but still it is more efficient to have the gaskets replaced if needed and the air removed.
