You better find a mechanic first to see if you bent all your valves if you broke the belt! You're supposed to ''maintain'' the vehicle and replace a worn belt BEFORE it breaks!!!!!

You can get the belt size from the parts store, they should be able to look up the part for you.

oh, and notaclue, a serpentine belt typically does not have anything to do with the valves, l think you're thinking of a timing belt.

The belt diagram will be around the engine compartment with the hood open. l do not know the size of the belt, but to change it just relax tension on the tensioner, usually with a 3/8 ratchet.

You can go to your local auto parts store and they can show and sell you one for your vehicle. Not very costly either.

There are CD is that have repair manuals you can find them on ebay for a few bucks that tells you how to do most anything. Most belts you have to loosen the tension and the new belt goes right on and then just tighten back but l do not know for sure about a Cougar.
