Which is better: 351 Cleveland or 351 Windsor on a 1970 Cougar

personally l like the 351 Cleveland

cleveland baby,you cant go wrong with that.

I've heard it is easier to get aftermarket parts that fit for the 351 Windsor.

Personally l would choose the 351 Cleavland. the Cleavland was built in Detroit, where as the Windsor was built in Canada.

the 351 cleveland was a much higher horsepower rating and also had much better oiling system

the cleveland. it is stronger, faster, tougher. also, better made, better oiling system, more horsepower

Cleveland parts cost more than Windsor parts (260/289/302/351),and r usually harder to find.The Cleveland was an expensive engine for Ford to tool up late 60s,to drop altogether mid 70s.The ''M'' engine came along in 1971 as the 400,and later the 351M was used to fill in for a 350 sized V8 in big cars.These were based on the 351C with some differences.The 351W was never considered torquey enough for full sized cars or trucks,but that changed in 1979 as the LTD/Marquis got the 351W & trucks got it in 1982.
If u r senitmental toward the past,the 351C is a throwback to a time well gone by,if u want parts availability & slightly better economy the W is the better choice.(its lighter too).

351 Windsor. small block, save on wieght and gas
351 Cleveland. Big block
351 Modified.. Big block, really sucks gas based on BB400 but pushes your eyes to the back of your head.
